AI agent for Intercom support
An AI agent for Intercom support reads each new conversation in your inbox, tags it, sets its priority and sends it to the right teammate, then drafts a reply from your help center for a person to approve. FrugalPod’s support pod does this inside Intercom. The connection is read-only by default, and by default nothing is sent until you approve it.
- FrugalPod’s support pod works with your Intercom conversations through three agents: Triage, Responder and Success watcher.
- Triage tags, prioritises and routes each new conversation, and records why.
- Responder drafts replies from your help center in your tone. A person approves them by default.
- Intercom’s own AI, Fin, answers customers directly. FrugalPod suits teams who want a human to approve first.
- The connection starts read-only, and every agent action is logged.

How access to Intercom works
When you connect Intercom, FrugalPod asks for the narrowest permissions each agent needs, and the connection starts read-only. A read-only Triage agent can still suggest tags, priorities and routing for your team to apply. You decide, agent by agent, whether it may change anything in Intercom. Even then, replies and record changes wait for approval in the FrugalPod app or in Slack until you choose to let a routine category go through on its own. You can revoke the connection at any time. Every action is recorded in the activity log. The FrugalPod security page explains approvals in full.
Getting started with Intercom
- Create a free FrugalPod account. It starts with 100 free credits and no card is needed.
- Connect Intercom to the support pod. The connection is read-only to begin with.
- Describe your usual conversation topics, which ones are urgent and which team handles each.
- Point Responder at your help center so its drafts come from the answers you already publish.
- Review the first tags and drafts against what your team would have done, approve what is right and correct what is not.

How does FrugalPod work alongside Intercom and Fin?
Intercom includes its own AI agent, Fin, which is built to answer customers directly inside Intercom. That is a real strength if you want the first answer to go out on its own. FrugalPod’s support pod takes a different approach. Triage sorts, Responder drafts, and a person approves before anything is sent. Which suits you depends on how much you want a person to check first. You pay for finished work, not per seat, so everyone on your team can review drafts on any plan. See pricing for credits.

Common questions
Something missing? Write to admin@frugalpod.com and a person will reply.
Does FrugalPod replace Fin?
Not necessarily. Fin is Intercom’s own AI and answers customers inside Intercom. FrugalPod drafts replies and sorts conversations, and a person approves them by default. Which fits better depends on how much you want a human to check before a customer sees an answer.
Will the agent reply to customers by itself?
No. Responder drafts answers from your help center, and each draft waits for your approval in the FrugalPod app or in Slack. Later you can decide that a routine category of replies may go out without asking, but that is always your choice.
What does Triage do with a new Intercom conversation?
It reads the message, tags the topic, sets a priority and suggests the team or teammate who should take it. It never answers the customer. Triage records the reason for each choice, so you can check it in the activity log.
Can it spot customers who might leave?
Yes, that is the Success watcher’s job. It spots usage drops and renewal risks and flags them for you. It does not contact the customer. Any outreach is a separate step that waits for your approval.
What does it cost?
FrugalPod charges by the work agents do, in credits where 1 credit is 1 cent. You can start free with 100 credits, pay as you go at $1 per 100 credits, or choose Starter at $19 a month or Pro at $49 a month. Every plan includes every integration.
