An AI customer support agent for Shopify

An AI customer support agent for Shopify reads incoming customer messages, sorts them by urgency and drafts a reply for each one. FrugalPod’s support pod does this for Shopify stores. The connection is read-only by default, and every reply waits for your approval, so customers only hear from you what you have checked and agreed to send.

Pods that work in Shopify: support.

How access to Shopify works

When you connect Shopify, FrugalPod asks for the narrowest permissions each agent needs, and the connection starts read-only. You decide, agent by agent, whether it may change anything. Replies and record changes wait for approval in the FrugalPod app or in Slack until you choose to let a routine category go out on its own. You can revoke the connection at any time. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, and it is never used to train FrugalPod’s models or its AI providers’ models. The security page explains approvals and the activity log.

Getting started with Shopify

  1. Create a free FrugalPod account. It starts with 100 free credits and no card is needed.
  2. Connect Shopify, and the inbox or help desk where your customer messages arrive, then choose the support pod.
  3. Add your returns policy and help center articles, and describe how your shop sounds.
  4. Run the pod on past messages first and read the drafts it would have written.
  5. Approve what is right, correct what isn’t, and decide later which routine replies may go out without asking.

How does FrugalPod handle Shopify customer support?

Your Shopify store brings the same questions every week: where is my order, can I return this, will it fit. FrugalPod’s support pod gives that queue a small team. Triage sorts each message as it lands. The Responder drafts an answer from your help center, in your tone. The Success watcher spots customers who may be slipping away. Nothing is sent until you approve it, every action is logged, and the pod has a hard budget cap it cannot exceed. See the e-commerce support use case for a worked example.

Common questions

Something missing? Write to admin@frugalpod.com and a person will reply.

Will the AI reply to my Shopify customers without asking me?

No. Every reply waits for your approval in the FrugalPod app or in Slack. Later, if you want, you can let a routine category of replies go out on its own. Until then, you read each draft first and nothing reaches a customer unseen.

Can it issue refunds or edit orders in Shopify?

The connection is read-only by default, so it cannot change anything until you allow it. If you do allow an agent to change something, each change still waits for your approval. Anything that spends money or alters a record is held for a person.

Is this the same as a chatbot on my store?

No. A chatbot answers shoppers on your site in real time. FrugalPod’s agents work behind the scenes on your support queue, drafting replies for you to approve. Some stores use both. The difference between rules and agents is covered in AI agents vs automation tools.

What does it cost for a small store?

FrugalPod charges by the work agents do, in credits where 1 credit is 1 cent. You can start free with 100 credits, pay as you go at $1 per 100 credits, or choose Starter at $19 a month or Pro at $49 a month. There is no per-seat fee. See pricing.
