How access to Xero works
When you connect Xero, FrugalPod asks for the narrowest permissions each agent needs, and the connection starts read-only. You decide, agent by agent, whether it may change anything in Xero at all. Even then, record changes and payments wait for approval in the FrugalPod app or in Slack until you choose to let a routine category go through on its own. You can revoke the connection at any time. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, and it is never used to train FrugalPod’s models or its AI providers’ models. The FrugalPod security page explains approvals and the activity log in full.
Getting started with Xero
- Create a free FrugalPod account. It starts with 100 free credits and no card is needed.
- Connect Xero to the finance pod. The connection is read-only to begin with.
- Tell the pod your rules: who approves bills, what counts as a duplicate and which accounts need a second look.
- Run the Reconciler on last month’s data first and compare its matches with what your bookkeeper did.
- Approve what is right, correct what isn’t, and decide later whether any routine matches may go through without asking.

Will FrugalPod post entries in Xero without asking?
No. The connection is read-only by default. If you let an agent write to Xero, each entry still waits for your approval in the FrugalPod app or in Slack, unless you later decide that a routine kind of entry may go through on its own.
Can the agents pay my bills?
Payments are one of the things that always wait for a person. The Invoice checker can tell you a bill matches its purchase order and is not a duplicate, but nothing is paid until you approve it. You can also keep payment rights switched off entirely.
Does this replace my bookkeeper or accountant?
No. It prepares the repetitive work so they review instead of re-keying. FrugalPod gives general support, not tax or accounting advice, and rules vary by location, so check filing and tax questions with a qualified advisor.
Which Xero plan do I need?
This depends on what your Xero subscription allows connected apps to read and write. Connect it during a free FrugalPod start and you will see which tasks agents can take on with your account before you spend anything beyond your free credits.
